Kitchen Support

Are you handy in a kitchen? Are you great working in a team? Do you love food?

​

Help support our Cook to provide nutritious home cooked food for our members attending our memory groups and lunch clubs.

​

With help needed on different days of the week and support between 10am and 2pm, we are looking for individuals who are happiest when in the kitchen.

​

Minimum requirement - Age 18+

​

With full training given including food hygiene training, this role is ideal for anyone looking to build skills in a kitchen, or wishing to share their skills in cooking and baking. Complete the enquiry form by clicking here.

AVSEDplus

Are you passionate about supporting older people? Do you love working with a team? Fancy being part of something that really makes a difference?

​

AVSEDplus is looking for compassionate, community-minded people to help support our Dementia Activity Service providing wellbeing activities for older people living with dementia in Aireborough.

​

With help needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays and support between 9.30am and 3.30pm, we are looking for individuals who are happiest when in the kitchen.

​​

​Enhanced DBS required for this role

Minimum requirement - Age 18+

Umbrella Club

Are you friendly, caring, and a true team player? Come and make a real difference at the Umbrella Club — a welcoming, supportive group for people living with dementia and other inclusion needs, including sensory challenges and restricted mobility.

​

As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside Judith, our fantastic group lead, to create a safe and uplifting space for our members. You'll help provide a healthy light lunch, support gentle exercise and activities, and enjoy the rewards of seeing members thrive.

​

This role is all about teamwork, helping people maintain their independence, and bringing joy to their day. You’ll support members with mobility, so being physically able to push a wheelchair and help set up and tidy away tables and chairs is essential.

​

Full training provided — including wheelchair and safe handling, Dementia Friends, food hygiene, and more.

Befriender

Can you spare an hour for to relieve loneliness?

​

Along with providing exercise, social activities, dementia and inclusion groups, trips, and fish and chips on a Friday, we provide an important befriending service to our more lonely or isolated members.

​

Spending up to an hour a week at a time that suits you and your partner, a befriender helps provide company, friendship, and a connection to the outside world. Being a listening ear, someone to reminisce with, play games, share skills, hobbies and stories, a volunteer befriender is an important and rewarding role here at AVSED.

Minibus Driver

Our door to door transport service is key to providing some of our members the independence they need to access our services and activities and avoid remaining isolated and lonely at home.

 

Volunteer minibus drivers help to pickup members for different activities throughout the week, with a general time commitment being a morning or afternoon per activity. We are looking to recruit volunteers with a friendly, happy demeanor and a confident driving style, or someone who is willing to learn how to drive our adapted minibus. 

​

Ad-hoc and regular weekly hours are available.

​​

​Enhanced DBS required for this role

Minimum requirements - Ages 30 - 70. Full UK licence held for at least 2 years.

Passenger Assistant

Our door to door transport service is key to providing some of our members the indepence they need to access our services and activities and avoid remaining isolated and lonely at home.

 

Volunteer Passenger Assistants support our minibus drivers and help to pick up members for different activities throughout the week, with a general time commitment being a morning or afternoon per activity. We are looking to recruit volunteers with a friendly, happy demeanor who can support our members from door to door and provide company, companionship and guidance on and off our transport

Car Driver and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Driver

Our door to door transport service is key to providing some of our members the indepence they need to access our services and activities and avoid remaining isolated and lonely at home.

Using your own vehicle or driving our Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) you would meet members at their own homes, helping them into the vehicle and driving them to the AVSED building or activity. At the end of the activity, you would return to pick them up and take them home ensuring they are safely back within their home again. 

​

Ad-hoc and regular hour weekly hours are available.

​​

Minimum requirement - Ages 18+, own vehicle
